WARTHA
This periodical is printed and published by the Foreigners' Department for Education, Diocese of Münster and circulated among all the Malyalees in Germany. Wartha gives special attention to information on political developments that affect the Indian community in Germany as well as news from Kerala . Wartha was first published in the year 1981. The presentation of annual WARTHA AWARDS to selected outstanding personalities is a colourful social event at Hopsten, Münster. Every year Wartha organises a Seminar for Malayalees at Hopsten, styled KERALA MEELA , which is attended by a large number of Malayalee families. The week-long Meela has become the meeting point for Malayalees who live in different parts of Germany to renew their friendship, exchange views and ideas and show their talents in cultural evenings. Meela has since been attended by many renowned Kerala politicians, eminent literary personalities in Kerala and prominent community and religious leaders. The first Kerala Meela was conducted in the year 1983. Dr. Mathew Mandapathil is the chief editor of Wartha and the architect of Kerala Meela.The Kerala Kala Kendram selected Dr.Mathew Mandapathil for its Millennium Golden Award for his outstanding performance in Print Media. The other recipients of the Millennium Awards are Dr.Reji Menon, Chairman Asianet communications (for Electronic Media), Appachan(M.C.Punnoose) Chairman, Navodaya Enterprises (for Film Media), M.M.Ramachandran, Mg. Director, Atlas Jewellery Group, Dubai (for business and enterprises) and P.V.Gangadharan, President, Film Federation of India (for Film Industry). Dr.N.A.Karim, Dr.A.Sukumaran Nair and Perumpadam Sridharan Nair were the members of the Judging Committee of the Awards.
